Skreens Park Activity Centre is a 55 acre park providing activities and accomodation for young people. There are 25 allocated camping areas around the park, with two toilet/wash blocks (one with ladies and gents showers) fitted with facilities for the disabled. There is also a wet weather barn. The site is available to Scouts and Guides for camps, pack holidays and other events, from April to October. There is a 3 acre lake and an open-air chapel and a log-seated campfire circle. The camp shop sells sweets, drinks, T-shirts, sweatshirts, badges and souvenirs of all kinds. Between November and March arrangements must be made at time of booking for shop opening hours. BUILDINGS: The Tinley Centre - A brick built centre that sleeps 36, available without heating (May to September), or with heating (October to April). The Leaman Centre - A brick built centre that sleeps 30, available without heating (May to September), or with heating (October to April). The Warren Centre - A timber built centre that sleeps 36, and has no heating.
All buildings are equiped with kitchens, dining rooms, washing and toilet facilities. Gas and Electricity are included within the Hire charge. There is also a 30x20 marquee available.
ACTIVITIES
Around 20 activities are available to Scouts & Guides. Air Rifles - 4 Rifles per session (Approx number 20 per hour) Archery - 4 Bows per session (Approx number 20 per hour) Abseiling - 1 Rope/Drop per session (Approx number 10 per hour) Canoes - 5 Canoes per session (Approx number 20 per hour) Cork Guns - 4 Guns per session (Approx number 20 per hour) Pedal Carts - 4 Carts per session (Approx number 20 per hour) Pond Dipping - 10 nets per session (Approx number 30 per hour) Pioneering Raft Building Volleyball, Badminton, Pre-planned hikes, Orienteering & Nature Trail are also available at no charge. Skreens Park Activity Centre is managed by Essex Scouts. Completed booking forms and a deposit should be sent to the Activity Centre Manager with cheques payable to ‘Essex County Scout Council' Activity sessions should be booked in advance and confirmation should be raised with the team about Instructor availability and the use of your own equipment. Current qualification certificates must be produced before any activity is undertaken.
