King Edward VIII Scout Park "Riffhams"

 

King Edward VIII Scout Park, also known as Riffhams is a 4 hectare wooded site adjacent to over 100 hectares of National Trust land near Chelmsford, Essex. We are located only a few miles from the site of the 2007 World Jamboree at Hylands Park. The site comprises of coppiced and standing woodland mainly chestnut, hornbeam and oak. There are a number of camping areas suitable for both group and patrol camping, water taps are conveniently located around the site.  

A hut with kitchen facilities is available and is ideal for centralised catering and wet weather shelter. Cooking rings, gas and basic utensils are provided.   The toilet block has the usual facilities plus a disabled toilet and a shower. The site is great for traditional camping and backwoods / survival activities.

Pioneering poles, and orienteering course and Nature Trail are available for hire.

There is plenty to do in the local area and London is only 30mins by train.

Riffhams is a great based for D of E training and is situated an ideal expedition distance from Prances camp site at Wickham Bishops.
