The Dave (David) Wilby Foundation
Established in 2008 in memory of David Wilby
The Billericay & Wickford Scout District, wishes to invite applications for a training bursary for the calendar year 2011. The aim of this foundation is to support young people of Billericay & Wickford Scout District through personal development to enable them to contribute to the continued growth of Scouting within the District.
The Dave Wilby Foundation was set up by Billericay & Wickford District Scout Council in 2008 to provide financial grants to aid the development of young people aged 16-25, by encouraging them to undertake personal development training for the benefit of other young people within Scouting. The funding is designed to provide either long term learning spread over a period of up to four years with a maximum of £500.00 available each year or a one off grant with a maximum amount of £2000.00.
Its primary function is to allow young people to attend specialist qualification courses which will in turn facilitate these young people to return to Scouting and provide new activities or improved levels of qualification in already established activities. It is usual for any funding to be on a matched basis, either parents or a sponsoring group will match the amount provided by the foundation.
The awards scheme recognises effort, endeavour and achievement of young people in a practical and positive way while simultaneously helping to provide new leadership within Scouting.
