District Commissioner
Sue Wilde
 |
The District covers the whole Borough and is the largest District, numerically, in UK, serving Scouting in the oldest Shire Town in England.
There are currently thirty Groups. The Fellowship membership is currently over 130 strong and the Groups are supported by a District Team of thirty one!
Each Section undertakes an exciting programme of District events each year, from the Annual Beaverie to Mega Camp and Chess to Swimming Gala, Sports Day, " Mayhem " and Handicrafts, to Quiz Nights, Night Hikes and overseas expeditions for Cub Scouts, Scouts to Poland, Belgium, France, USA and Southern Africa.
The Gang Show is a tremendous institution which takes place for a week each April at The Civic Theatre in Chelmsford.
There are two campsites within the District; Riffhams, King Edward VIII, at Little Baddow in the National Trust Woodland belt, now undergoing major conservation and restoration, and the County Campsite at Skreens Park near Roxwell; a magnificent location, increasingly well resourced for every conceivable activity.
