Saffron Walden District
The Saffron Walden District is part of the Uttlesford parish in ESSEX WEST and extends west to the Herts. border, north to Cambridge and is bounded by the Braintree and Hatfield Forest districts in the east and south. It has six Groups, an Explorer section and a Fellowship. There are two full groups in the town, plus one in Newport, one in Thaxted and two cub-only Groups in Clavering and Radwinter. The Fellowship membership is currently about 20 and the Groups are supported by a District Team of 15 .
The District has established many popular events such as the annual Spring Challenge [25 miles in 12 hours], Jailbreak [overnight escape & evade] and Family Camp [hosted by the Fellowship] in addition to the regular Swimming Gala, Chess and Quiz activities. For the last two years it has also hosted a Japanese day for visiting students.
