Tendring Scout Districts’ borders are not the same as that of the Tendring local authority. For example Colchester covers Great Bentley, Lawford and Brightlingsea for scouting purposes. As can be seen by the map the area is largely bordered by water and there are several areas of interest because of this. Water Sports are popular, however the coast from Clacton to Harwich is deemed to be open sea for boating purposes and several areas have strong tidal flows. There are many fine footpaths in this largely rural area. The resort towns of Clacton, Walton and Dovercourt have many attractions.
