Thurrock Scout District has a membership of almost a thousand including Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Fellowship and is home to one of the Scout Network groups. The Thurrock Scout District covers most of the same area as the Borough of Thurrock but does not include Stanford-le-Hope, Corringham or Horndon-on-the-Hill.
Thurrock has two campsites,Condovers in the East and Cherrywood in the West. Both sites can be used for a number of activities, both can provide archery. Cherrywood has an Orienteering course and Condovers an Abseiling Tower.
The District runs a number of annual events and has a very successful Gang Show. The events include Beaver's Christmas Service , Beaver Funday, Handicraft, Rainbow Challenge Shield, an annual Outing, Campfire and Sleepover for Beaver Scouts.
A District Games Afternoon, Handicraft Competition, Sports Day, District Camp, Cub Quiz, Sixers Day, Challenge Day and Carol Service for the Cub section.
For Scouts and Explorers there is a Swimming Gala, Jamborama Camp, Water activities day and Camping standards.
Thurrock has organised a Summer Playscheme for youngsters during the school holidays for many years.
Thurrock also has a Saturday morning Scout Shop at the Alf Lowne Scout Centre where uniform and many other items can be bought at a discount price.
