Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Is food provided in the event fee?
A1: No. Essex Weekend is a self catered event.
Q2: Which section is the event open to?
A2This event is only open to adult members of The Scout Association aged over 18 years of age and their families.
Q3: Can members of The Guide Association attend?
A3: Guide members can only attend with an 18+ family member of The Scout Association.
Q4: Can we set up our camp before the weekend?
A4: The camping field will be open from 4pm on Friday 25th May.
Q5: Can people come for the day?
A5: Yes. The event is open to weekend campers who also have access to the evening entertainments. Day visitors pay £5 and are welcome to stay through the evening, but will not be allowed to camp overnight.
Q6: Is there any indoor accommodation?
A6: No. All participants will need to provide their own tentage and camping equipment.
Q7: How do the activities work?
A7: The majority of activities on site will be available for all, however, some activities are restricted due to their nature. Activities are open to all from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.
Q8: Will we be allocated a campsite on arrival?
A8: There are 2 camping areas, one general area, and one quiet camping area. Please identify which site you would like to camp on when booking by ticking the box on the online booking system. When you arrive on site please proceed to the appropriate site which will be sign posted. The sites will not be allocated so you can camp where you like with the exception of the fire access routes.
