The Essex Experience Learning Agreement
Thank you for volunteering for the Essex Experience. To ensure we achieve the best possible learning experience for all involved, including the young people who need your full support, please read and sign this learning agreement. The Learning Agreement is between you and the Essex Experience Training Team and explains what you can expect from the Training Team and what the Training Team expects from you.
The Training Team will:
- Provide you with a comprehensive training programme designed to meet your needs in your role as mentor to the young people at the Essex Experience.
- Provide qualified and experienced staff who will attend all sessions on time.
- Provide an environment for the training which is suitable, safe and conducive to learning.
- Provide an environment which respects the rights of all individuals, and which is free from harassment of any kind.
- Ensure that you have a personal tutor to support you through your course.
- Provide you with feedback on your progress.
- Provide opportunities for you to express your opinions about the service we provide and to report back to you the action taken on your suggestions, concerns or complaints.

The Training Team asks you to:
- Attend all sessions punctually or explain absences/lateness (including the evening activities).
- Switch off mobile phones during training sessions.
- Behave responsibly at all times, taking care not to disrupt the learning of others, acting with respect and courtesy towards the staff, tutors and other volunteers at all times.
- Take responsibility for your own learning and find out what is expected of you while on the course.
- Discuss your progress with your personal tutor and inform your tutor of any difficulties or concerns you may have about the course.
- Abide by the Essex Experience alcohol policy.
- Inform the Training Team if you intend to leave the site.

If you break the Learning Agreement
If your tutor feels that you are not keeping this agreement they will first discuss the matter with you. If they are not satisfied with the result, disciplinary action may be taken as follows: first verbal warning, second verbal warning, a written warning, a letter from the Training Team asking you to leave. If you are employed or representing an organisation, your employer or sponsoring organisation will receive a copy of the letter asking you to leave. In cases of gross misconduct you may be asked to leave immediately.
