Powerbocking Scouts from Essex have recruited a new member as they look to prepare to rise for the challenge for Sport Relief.

BBC Breakfast Sports Presenter Mike Bushell has been training with the Scouts so that he can join them for the Manchester Sport Relief Mile on March 16th to raise funds for the Charity.

Sport Relief’s slogan this year is to rise to the challenge and Mike knew he’d get support from the Scouts. “I knew Scouts were always setting themselves new challenges and so when the chance came to do the mile with them it seemed perfect for me. It’s been tough learning but they’ve shown great patience and tolerance with me and they are certainly brilliant to work with.

Mike’s training with the Scouts is set to feature on Breakfast TV on the Saturday before 20 of them join him in Manchester for the race on the Sunday.

Becky Tompkinson, who helped coach Mike said: “ We’ve loved our latest recruit. He’s been fantastic to teach and he fits perfectly into the mould of what a Scout should be – ready for anything that comes his way.
