What happened with the closing ceremony because supposedly Aether was meant to be the front because we were at the back last time? Also with the sound and screen because we couldnt hear or see anything? it was really annoying, so i was just wondering what happened to make it like that sad.gif unsure.gif

There were clips from camp, torch turning off, Indian dance display and fireworks.

Most of my unit performed a song on stage (the first act after the "big" songs) for which I played guitar! biggrin.gif

sad.gif Sorry to hear that you couldn't hear or see anything; I know the screen wasn't wokring at all for us or "Meat Loaf" David, and the sound was very bad for us too! (I don't think our singing was as load as it could have been either)

We were lucky to have front seats after performing because we had just come of the stage!

It's a real shame that Aether were at the back for both cermonies (I was on Aether, and was the furthest forward of Aether for opening show - but still far far back.) sad.gif

P.S. I'll write a full list of the closing ceremony in another post if you want, I can remember it quite well and will ask help from some others if needed.

I was with Custard in Aether and agree, the closing ceremony was a let down. I am sure things were going on "up front" and they were good, it was just that being at the back with no PA or big screen working for the first hour, we could not enter the spirit of the event. By the time things did get working, most of our scouts were not interested! Our subcamp was one of the closest to the arena, yet we ended up at the back for both ceremonies. mad.gif

I felt really sorry for that big group who got up to do their song. I am not sure what the song was but I would be really dissapointed after making all that effort only to be heard by the first 20 rows.

Never mind, better luck in 2008... sad.gif

A simple thing happened. the tech team couldn't work the kit as the couldn't seem to all week.

they also forgot to switch the feed on the big screen from the look east footage earlier in the day back to the cameras.

Hope you enjoyed the rest of the week

What happened at the party inbetween the 2 parts of the closing too? All week in the disco's the DJ had been playing some really good party music, such as YMCA, we will rock you and that foreign song by O-zone.

We were expecting all the same for the last night as it was supposed to be a big party, but the DJ just seemed to play what he wanted and not what the crowd wanted.

Most of mine drifted off back to the subcamp and watched the fireworks from there as weren't impressed with Disco.

Just my 2p's worth tongue.gif

Yeah, that's what happened with my lot. They had been party animals all week but were too tired or just deflated after the closing ceremony disaster and went back to Subcamp. Zorba's was a little more lively - sorry all you Under 18's!!! biggrin.gif

I was really looking forward to trying to master the lyrics to the O-zone song too!!!

They must have played Dragostea Din Tei by Ozone at least three times in d disco every night, it was ok but got a bt annoying afta a while! biggrin.gif

Hey
I was on Aether aswell and it was really annoying that we were at the back again for the closing ceromony sad.gif
We've got lots of little guides who couldn't see a thing!
Never mind we'll just have to make sure they all go in 2008 and see a bit more of a jamboree opening/closing ceromony then!

The DJ for the closing was changed from Dan who had been doing it all week by the same people with the kit.

as for the over 14's disco, the talent show finished at 10:20pm we couldn't gage excatly what time it was going to finish. but at least nigel got to play with some more of his kit and at least 12 people joined in.

We now in yp ents we had our problems these where only compounded by the three names in charge.

I'm closing this topic as the conversation is getting a tad out of hand. Please appreciate that there were technical problems with the video wall - you might be interested to know that this equipment was supplied free to the Jamboree and I hope that it added an extra dimension to the event.
