Essex International Jamboree - 26th July to 2nd August 2008

The largest ever UK Scout and Guide camping event.

Providing the opportunity for all Essex Scouts and Guides to take part in their own locally organised Jamboree.

Half of the 10,000 participants will be from the host county. The other half will come from across the UK and over 30 countries around the world.

Participants will camp for seven nights and will have the opportunity to take part in over 100 different adventurous activities over the course of five days.

The young people can gain awareness about protecting their environment through community projects such as doing conservation work, undertaking recycling and
understanding major ethical issues in order to make the world a better place.

The event will be supported by over 2,000 adult Scout and Guide volunteers.

Jamboree Open Day

Wristbands will be available to purchase at the gate on Jamboree Open Day taking place on Wednesday 30 July. For further details including details of the activities and travel advice can be found by visiting the Open Day page.

The Final Countdown...

With nearly one month to go, the important Health and Activities Forms have just been sent to registered Group bookings along with the last issue of the information document, COUNTDOWN.

Preparations Ongoing

Preparations for the biggest ever Essex International Jamboree are ongoing to prepare a fantastic week of international fun and adventure.

Book Online

Bookings for the UKs largest County Jamboree can still be made on the online bookings system.

Simply follow the instructions to register your Group or contact the Registrar at to add additional people to your existing Group booking.

The Build has Begun!

With under a month to go to the Jamboree, the building of a site for 10,000 participants has already begun. Working weekends have enabled teams such as site serivces to start preparing water tanks prior to the start of the event.

Recycle for Jamboree

At the Jamboree we are encouraging everyone to ensure that the Jamboree contributes to the ecology of the planet by helping to reduce landfill dumping and recycle wherever possible. View our four simple steps on the recycling page.

Jamboree Clothing

The jamboree clothing range is now available to order and includes a choice of polo shirts and tee shirts in either navy blue or heather grey. Download an order form and if you live in the UK you can pay to receive your items by post before the event. Unfortunately only group orders can be accepted.

Search for Specialists !

We are keen to hear from any adults attending the Jamboree on participant Sub Camps that might able to contribute specialist skills during the event. We are especially looking for tradesmen of all types or activity instructors within water or challenge based activities.
