Staff Frequently Asked Questions
How do I fill the staff form out the form?

You can either download the form in a PDF version which can be printed off, and filled in by hand using a pen, or if you download the word version you can fill this out on your computer.
Both forms are exactly the same and have very clear instructions as to what information is required. Don’t forget to look at role directories and roles available on the Staff pages to decide where you wish to volunteer.
Where do I send the form?

Once complete you will need to send the form to one of the two addresses on the form, you can send either by email or postal mail. The email address is and the postal address is Essex International Jamboree, 5 Longship Way, Maldon, Essex, CM9 6UG.
What if someone has approached me?

If you are asked by a friend, colleague, family member or any one known to you from Girlguiding or Scouting to join a team, subcamp team or Department. They will ask to get some information from you, this is completely fine, as you will be known as a Co-opted Volunteer and your new Head of department will send details about you to the Staff department. If they don’t ask for any information it is best to complete a Staff Interest Form as this will ensure you are included in the Jamboree. Once this has been done you will receive a letter either be through the post or email from the Staff Department thanking you for volunteering. Ensure that your friend keeps you informed about what is going on within your team or Department.

You may be asked to arrive on site earlier than that date if your Department, or Team feels it is necessary and you are required to help then setup for example Subcamps or Entertainments.
However you can arrive at the Jamboree site from any time beginning the 18th July, to help construct the Jamboree site. Where do I camp?

If you are not part of a Subcamp team you will camp in one of four areas on the Staff Subcamp field.
The areas and descriptions are as follows;
Silent Hill; This area is for shift workers and those who need that extra bit of help sleeping at night or during the day. It will be a noise free zone, from those camping within it and ask those camping within the area to have respect for our site nocturnal volunteers both at night and during the day.
Family Field; This area will be for those who have their families with them and will be placed away from the hussle and bussle of the Staff Recreation Complex, to enable young children to sleep better.
General Gate; This area will be for anyone to camp in and will observe a no noise between 11pm and 7am rule.
Late Night Layer; This is for those that like to let off steam longer than the rest of the volunteers, and will be places away from Silent Hill and Family Field. There will still be a noise curfew but it’s aimed so that you’re not disturbed to early in the morning.
Some teams may request to camp together within a certain area, and this will need to be arranged with the Staff Department prior to the Jamboree, however unless it is for an operational reason, then it will fall the responsibility of that team to ensure there team arrives in plenty of time to all camp together.
What Facilities Are there?
