Right, first off, what is Mad UK?

Mad UK, formally known as Mad Weekend, is one of THE biggest annual events that the entire Essex Network looks forward to. Since we've opened the event to the UK over the past few years we've had over 300 participants join us. We hope you can this year too! MadUK makes for a brilliant weekend away without breaking the bank - and makes for a nice 2nd holiday.

Why Mad UK?

Mad UK earns its name by providing Network members the opportunity to let their hair down without the fear of gaining an ASBO. It's loud, it's fast and offers one of the best, yet lesser known, Sunday hangover cures available.

Cool, who is Mad UK?

If you’re in Network, then you should be at Mad UK. You’d be MAD not to be, (har har har, who wouldn’t have seen that one coming! Oh dear). Mad UK is run by Essex Network for everyone elses Network…and we'll have the entire site to ourselves!!

What do you get for your £30

A hangover and great (patchy?) memories.

Well, thats one option. Its really upto you - but the general idea is to have an awesome time however you please. We'll provide fresh air and green grass, various wholesome activities and site amenities etc. You'll provide the means to combine these and enjoy yourself - but we'll help wherever we can!

You'll also get a free weekend subscription to the Daily onsite newsletter which is always rammed with inane banter and photos of the day's events as well as adverts for other upcoming Network events - get in on the action by catching any of the Media Team throughout the weekend.

Did we say wholesome? We mean moresome activites with : wild slings, human table football, crafts, inflatables and a Sunday Challenge !

The phrase "low-light stopped play" doesn't exist in the MadUK dictionary (not available anywhere) so for Nocturnal activities we're offering Friday & Saturday night themed discos, Shag Tag, and DJs.

Friday it's a UV party - bring your glowy stuff (or whatever you kids do at these)

Saturday it's a Beach party - pack your flip flops & hula skirts !

What's the "Holiday" Theme about?

Since Mad Weekend began there has always been a theme for the disco night. In previous years we have seen 999, Christmas, James Bond, Skool Disco to name but a few. This year, it was decided that 2008 would be the year of the sea, sun and sand = "Holiday"

What do I bring?

  • Yourself, and all your network buddies
  • Tent (optional - depends on how lucky you get)
  • Wash Kit (optional - depends on how lucky you want to get)
  • Underpants (clean) and other clothing for the weekend
  • Fancy Dress (cross dressing is actively encouraged)
  • Hangover cure
  • Protection (suncream, raincoat, insect repellent, ...)
  • Trangia etc. - but you'll be eating alone - as the Mad Rock Cafe is the catering option of choice. Over 95% of previous particpants can't be wrong!
  • Sense of humour and a taste for adventure

Who can apply and how?

Any registered member of Network (aged between 18-25) can apply for a place for Mad UK 2008. You can apply via this page.
