3 Scouts, 3 Explorer Young Leaders and 3 Adults from 4th Braintree are off to Finland to enjoy some summer Centenary fun with the Guides and Scouts at international camp Kilke. Kilke is the 6th Finnjamboree organised by the Guides and Scouts of Finland. It will be set near the town of Hämeenlinna between 28 July to 5 August.
Kilke is expecting to host around 10 000 Finnish Guides and Scouts as well as international guests from all over the world. The camp welcomes all Guides and Scouts aged 12-22.
Traditional camping and handicraft skills are appreciated at Kilke and also an overnight hike is part of the programme. Kilke is one of the highlights of the centenary activities of the Finnish scout and guide movement!
4th Braintree have also managed to secure places on a 3 day tour of the South of Finland, which will run directly after the camp, ending in Helsinki on 8 August.
The international team have already found a link for the Braintree Scouts with a Finnish group who have agreed to provide some tents for them and the cooking is done centrally for the whole subcamp, so they can travel a little lighter to! |
