Expo Team Leader – Essex

Essex Scouts are planning Essex Expo, a major county-wide event scheduled for early 2027. Expo will showcase the very best of Scouting across Essex, providing inspiration, learning, and support to volunteers across all sections and districts.

Designed as a Scouting oriented exhibition and learning event, it will bring together specialists from across our programme, volunteering development and support teams, enabling volunteers to explore ideas, develop skills, make connections and take practical learning back into local Scouting.

Essex Scouts are seeking to appoint an Expo Team Leader to lead the development and delivery of this flagship event.

The Role
The Expo Team Leader will set the overall direction, scope and delivery approach for the Essex Scouts Expo. Key aspects of the role include:

  • Establishing the vision, format and structure of the event:
  • Setting and managing the event budget, in line with county expectations
  • Bringing together and coordinating a multi-functional planning team representing the breadth of Essex Scouts.
  • Enabling effective cross-team working to ensure the event is cohesive, well-coordinated and successful.
  • Working with county leads to ensure the Expo reflects current Scouting priorities and supports delivery of the county development plan.
  • Exploring opportunities to engage regional and national Scouting teams, and appropriate external partners, where this adds value to the event.

The Team Leader will report to the County Leadership Team, providing regular updates on progress, risks and key decisions as planning develops.

What We’re Looking For
This role would suit someone who:

  • Has proven experience of planning and delivering complex events, ideally involving multiple teams or stakeholders
  • Is confident setting direction, managing budgets and coordinating activity
  • Is comfortable working with senior stakeholders and providing clear updates
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, safeguarding and Scouting values in all aspects of their leadership
  • Is motivated by strengthening volunteer experience, learning and programme quality
  • Champions youth-shaped Scouting, embedding young people’s perspectives into planning and decision-making

  • The chance to shape a major county-wide initiative
  • Experience of leading a large, multi-disciplinary team
  • A meaningful contribution to volunteer development and Scouting across Essex
