Last weekend, every new Queen’s Scout in Essex was invited to a weekend to get to know each other before attending the annual national gathering at Windsor.

From Friday evening, Scout volunteers and their families from across Essex are arriving for a weekend full of fun and new adventures as they camp together and try out a range of activities and workshops.
In a bar marquee, National Commissioner Wayne Bulpitt, Regional Commissioner Rob Lyon and County Commissioner Jan Dear will welcome visitors to the event.

The Essex Weekend is the ideal weekend to camp and thank the people you work with in Scouting, whether that be your leadership team, your executive or your supporters.
During the weekend, come and join in at the international village, take part in archery, air rifles, climbing, abseiling, pioneering, water activities, plus many more activities to be confirmed.
You’ll also be able to drop in on an adult training surgery, the Skreens Park shop, learn more about the Young Leader and the Duke of Edinburgh’s schemes and some top tips about media and communications.
Held at Skreens Park Activity Centre, Roxwell, Chelmsford, The Essex Weekend will also give adults the chance to have fun meeting together with others from across county but to also pick up new ideas and share your own ideas with other volunteers in Essex.

Taking place on Friday 7th to Sunday 9th May, you’ll be able to camp as a small group or family and cook for yourselves and have a go at a range of activities and to try some workshops to support your Scouting.
