Cherrywood is a 10 Acre site located to the West of Thurrock. Situated just outside of Purfleet it has easy access from the M25 and Dartford river crossing, and to Lakeside shopping center.

Half of Cherrywood is made up of open Meadow containing the Campfire circle, large car park and modern toilet and shower block with separate male, female and disabled facilities.

A wide path leads up to the second half of the site, which is made up of 5 acres of woodland. Within the woodland there is a large clearing (available for camping) centered around the recently constructed log cabin.

The Log Cabin

The Log cabin sleeps 10 youths plus 4 adults, and has catering facilities for 24. It consists of a hall (5m square), kitchen, toilet, and 2 bunk rooms, each sleeping 2. There are also picnic tables available for use. The clearing in the woods has room for 6 patrol tents, and can be used together with the Log cabin.

Grangewaters Outdoor Centre

This local Outdoor Activities Centre is owned and operated by Thurrock Council. As well as a large lake and excellent facilities for water activities there are an increasing variety of other activities including high ropes. More Info

RSPB Rainham Marshes

One of very few ancient landscapes remaining in London, these medieval marshes right next to the River Thames were closed to the public for over 100 years and used as a military firing range.  More Info

Lakeside Shopping Centre

Lakeside Shopping Centre and the ajoining retail park offer a range of shopping and leisure activities. Including Tesco, Sainsburys, Vue Cinema, Lakeside Karting, Go Outdoors and lots more. More Info

Royal Opera House – Thurrock Workshop

Located very close to the site is the production workshop for the Royal Opera House. ROH offer a number of different tours, educational workshops and chances to look around the site. More Info
