Whilst on Summer Camp, the Scouts had two kayaking sessions, went powerboating, visited the Sea Life Centre and the Shoreham Lifeboat Station, spent time on Brighton Pier and souvenir shopping and had a joint 24 hour survival skills with 19th and 54th Brighton Scout Troops.
We spent a day at the Portsmouth Historic Naval Dockyard, visiting HMS Victory, Warrior, the Mary Rose Museum, Action Stations and had a harbour tour by boat, finishing the day with fish and chips on the harbour wall.
To allow the Scouts the opportunity to complete their Global Challenge badge, we also had a day trip to Calais via EuroTunnel, looking at the occupation of Northern France during the Second World War by visiting La Coupole, the former launch site of V2 rockets. We also spent time on Calais beach playing volleyball and eating ice creams, before heading to Cite Europe for the Scouts to buy their dinner in a French Hypermarket.
On the return trip, 2 Scouts were invested on EuroTunnel, somewhere around 45m below the seabed.
A fantastic summer camp, with huge thanks to the leadership team and the Scouts for making it so enjoyable. Looking forward to Holland for next year already!
