1st Finchingfield Beavers welcomed ‘Owls and Pals’ to their HQ to learn all about birds of prey and those found within our local wildlife.

The group were excited to be introduced and to be allowed to get up close and personal to a Gos Hawk, a Buzzard, a Barn Owl, Burrowing Owl and Boobook Owl, even getting hands on. Everyone in attendance getting to handle at least 2 of the birds and having photos taken with them. A real falconry treat for the colony who had expressed an interest in learning more about local birds and conservation.

We were very lucky to get such a rare opportunity to meet these lovely birds and learn how best to protect them in our rural location so as to be able to continue enjoying nature and the great outdoors at its best…even the adult helpers and our young Explorer leader got involved and a great nights Scouting was had by all.

Owls and Pals even allowed us to take a very special photograph with 7 of our Beavers who have just achieved their Bronze Chief Scout Awards being presented their badges and certificates ahead of the County Awards Day; a very special well done to all who have worked hard to achieve this award!
