Beaver Scouts from all over Essex had a fantastic time at Belchamps Activity Centre when they joined in with one of the Centre

Everyone eagerly arrived in the evening; groups from all over Essex and some further away. After finding their bunks and settling in, the Beavers went off for activities on the main field. Thoroughly warmed up and raring to go, the crew led a ramble through the woods onsite, seeing the way by torchlight.

The walk ended with a roaring camp fire. Lots of action songs, and enthusiastically loud singing were the order of the evening. Even some of the leaders learnt some new ones!

The evening was rounded off back at the dining area where supper of hotdogs and hot-chocolate were waiting. Well-fed and entertained, the Beavers got to bed. And they went to sleep straight away. Honest.

Next morning we all enjoyed a hearty breakfast and went off in groups to start our activities. With a wide selection; from archery to caving, cooking to fencing, there was something for everyone and the Beavers all got stuck in. The only break from the fun and excitement was for lunch, but it was soon back to the adventure.

The sleepover finished at 3.30pm with a small closing ceremony.

Nigel, Centre Manager commented “I’d like to give a huge thank you to Belchamps Scout Activity Centre, the Crew, staff and cooking team, your enthusiasm and helpfulness made the event a great success.”

Twice a year, Belchamps run two Beaver sleepovers over one weekend; one in March and one in December.
