Charlotte from Chelmsford has achieved the Queen’s Scout Award, the highest training Award for Youth Members of Scouting in their age group after completing a number of hiking, camping, dance and leadership challenges during the last 18 months. Charlotte, 17, is a member of Kendo Explorer Scout Unit and has been a member of Scouting for seven years.

For part of the award Charlotte continued to play the Clarinet and the Flute as part of an ensemble. Every award holder needs to complete an expedition and Charlotte and a team of 5 walked for 4 days in the Brecon Beacons last August. Charlotte says “I enjoyed doing my hike in the Brecon Beacons and really enjoyed a conservation project last summer, as it was lots of fun cutting down trees and de-reeding a pond in Epping Forest.
