Over 260 Scout Network members and staff from 28 Networks across the UK had a ‘MAD’ time last weekend at Essex Network’s annual event, this year held at Kingston Ridge in Laindon Hills, Basildon.

With 7 different venues offering a mix of music, activities and beverages, the event was a great excuse to shake off the last few months of 2009 and to go back to the 1960s for a groovy flower power theme which involved fancy dress costumes and smiles all round during the weekend.

Activities available during the weekend included Climbing, Shooting, Archery and Fencing as well as Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and a whole host of inflatables. Even the Essex Network trophy was claimed by Spitfire Network following a game of Kubbs, a game that combines chess and bowls…

MAD Rock was busy keeping everyone refueled, including the availability of the legendary MAD burger, selling 69 on the Friday night alone!
