Beavers Scouts from across Hatfield Forest invaded Thriftwood Activity Centre for sunny day of activities.

The morning was filled with trampolining, archery, the 3-D maze and squeals of delight. Several very brave adults decided that a 3-D maze designed and built for Beaver and Cub Scouts should be no challenge for them but discovered that they are not as small and flexible as the children. However, both children and adults were extracted in time for an excellent bar-B-Q and fruit lunch provided by Henham & Elsenham?s Quartermaster and friend.

After a mad half hour of 20-a-side football the Beavers set off to sample the delights of cork rifles, pedal go-carts and a fabulous assault course type activity play area with a zip line. If the adults and Leaders were not exhausted before, dragging Beavers up the zip line and launching them finished the job!

The coach journey home was considerably quieter than the outward-bound ride, with several adults and children dozing quietly in the late afternoon sunshine.

The day was a great success thanks to the Thriftwood Instructors, Leaders and accompanying adults without whom the Beaver would not have had such an exciting and safe taste of adventure.
