Scouts and Explorers from Thurrock recently visited the Council Chamber in Grays for an evening celebrating the recipients of Jack Petchey Awards during 2011.

They were joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Thurrock, the District President Margaret Jones and Nikki Casy from the Jack Petchey Foundation. The evening was compared by Deputy District Comissioner, Graham Monk.

Each winner was presented with a certificate by the Mayor, boxed medallions by Nikki Casey and lapel badges by the District Commissioner, Iain Rider. After the presentations, the winners were invited into the Mayors Parlour for light refreshments while parents and leaders were shown a video informing of the work of the Jack Petchey Foundation and a video of the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

Many thanks to Olive Clay for organising the evening, Roger Clay for work behind the scenes and operating the video equipment and to Pat Banister (Mayor Secretary) for ensuring the evening ran smoothly and assisting Olive Clay with the organisation.
