The Essex Adult Awards reception evening recognised a range of achievements as more than 70 awards were presented to Districts, Groups and Individuals in recognition of their outstanding work for the Young People of Essex.

Providing Scouts around Essex with a great adventure and challenge is no mean feat, a fact that was recognised with the presentation of a range of Adult Awards at the Thriftwood Training Headquarters.

Leaders, Commissioners and Helpers were presentated with their awards by Lord Petre, (Essex Scouts President & Lord Lieutenant of Essex) and Jan Dear (County Commisioner of Essex Scouts). Individuals received awards and certificates ranging from Wood Badges, gained by completing Leader Training schemes, through to long service awards 5 years and more, all the way up to Silver Wolf and Silver Acorn Awards for outstanding service to Scouting over a number of years.

Essex Scouts also recognise the work put in by Groups and Districts in increasing membership and it was great to see numbers have been increasing all around the County. Over the last three to four years many areas have seen substantial growth, sometimes well over 100%, making sure that more young people and adults benefit from being involved in Essex Scouting.

Pictured here are adults from Groups showing large growth in numbers were 2nd Hawkwell, represented by Tina Allen and Philip Martyn with a 73% increase and 5th Rayleigh, represented by Mark Peason, with an amazing 125% growth!
