Individual Support

Do you need financial support to help you participate in Scouting?

Essex Scouts has created the County Support Fund to provide financial assistance to individuals (both young people and adult volunteers) where support is required as a result of the increasing cost of living pressures.

Grants from the County Support Fund can be used to help with the cost of Scouting including subs, uniforms, activities and camp fees. Have a look at the information below to see how to get support.

Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Squirrels

If you’re a Young Person in Scouting and can’t do a camp or activity because of the cost, ask a leader if you can get the money from the County Support Fund. It’s there for YOU so please ask.

If your leader hasn’t heard of the Fund then show them this page. You can also show this page to your parent or guardian.

Explorers

If you’re an Explorer and can’t do everything you want in Scouting because of the cost, ask one of your leaders if you can get help from the County Support Fund. It’s there for YOU so please ask.

If your leader hasn’t heard of the Fund then show them this page. You can also show this page to your parent or guardian.

Parents

We’re aware that sometimes it can be difficult to pay for everything that your Young Person wants. We’re here to help.

If they can’t do a camp or activity because of the cost, ask one of their leaders if you can get some or all of the money from the County Support Fund. It’s there to help you to support your Young Person so please ask.

If your leader hasn’t heard of the Fund then show them this page.

You can also use the button below to send a mesage to us. We’ll treat your enquiry confidentially and we’ll work out how best to get help for you and your Young Person.

Adult Leaders and Network Members

The County Support Fund is here to support you personally as an adult in Scouting as well as the under 18s around you.

If you need financial support in order for you or another adult in Scouting to be able to participate then ASK.

Ideally your Group Scout Leader, your District Commissioner or line manager will be able to give advice. If they’re not aware of the County Support Fund then point them at this page.

You can also use the button below to send a mesage to us. We’ll treat your enquiry confidentially and we’ll work out how best to get help for you.

Applying on behalf of someone else

Ideally we all want to work with others in order to support them. Sometimes we may feel that we need to provide support in other ways.

It’s possible to apply for a grant from the County Support Fund without the knowledge of the person who’ll get the benefit.

Please use the button below to contact us if you want to discuss how to do this. We’ll treat your enquiry as confidential and work with you to find a solution.

How to apply

Talk to us first – Use the button below to contact the Grants Team.

As ever, there’s some paperwork. However, please don’t see this as a barrier to getting support. Download our application form below.

Please note that we will need to involve your Scout Group or Scout District in the process as any grants will be paid directly to them. Ideally they should complete the form on your behalf or with your help.

If you need help completing the form then please email us.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.
