Safe Scouting Team
The Safe Scouting Team provides support to the County and acts as the primary point of contact for all Essex Scout issues relating to:
- Data Protection and General Data Protection Regulations breaches
- Complaints, disputes and mediation
- Member welfare and wellbeing (in conjunction with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Team)
- Monitor and analyse the County’s Health and Safety Reports and Near Miss Incidents, in order to identify common causes (Lessons Learned) for resolution
- Working with both the Programme and Events Teams, to ensure appropriate Safeguarding and Safety provisions are taken in to consideration throughout event planning and delivery
- Compliance Reporting (including mandatory training)
The Team also supports District Lead Volunteers with:
- Support and advice on complaints and disputes at District level
- A mediation service, as and when required, including actively mediating with specific cases and providing mediation training
- Liaison with The Scout Association’s Safeguarding Team, to facilitate resolution of issues with live cases
- Guidance on Health and Safety Legislation, for Districts and Scout Groups
- Provide guidance to Districts on the implementation and monitoring of The Association’s Safety Policy.
- Lead the implementation of the Safe Premises Audit
- Offer practical guidance and assistance on Risk Assessments
