Safe Scouting Team

The Safe Scouting Team provides support to the County and acts as the primary point of contact for all Essex Scout issues relating to:

• • Data Protection and General Data Protection Regulations breaches,
  • Complaints, disputes and mediation,
  • Member welfare and wellbeing (in conjunction with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Team),
  • Monitor and analyse the County’s Health and Safety Reports and Near Miss Incidents, in order to identify common causes (Lessons Learned) for resolution,
  • Working with both the Programme and Events Teams, to ensure appropriate Safeguarding and Safety provisions are taken in to consideration throughout event planning and delivery,

The Team also supports District Lead Volunteers with:

• Support and advice on complaints and disputes at District level,
• A mediation service, as and when required, including actively mediating with specific cases and providing mediation training,
• Liaison with The Scout Association’s Safeguarding Team, to facilitate resolution of issues with live cases,
• Guidance on Health and Safety Legislation, for Districts and Scout Groups,
• Provide guidance to Districts on the implementation and monitoring of The Scouts Association’s Safety Policy,
• Lead the implementation of the Safe Premises Audit,
• Offer practical guidance and assistance on Risk Assessments,
