Skreens Park Activity Centre
Skreens Park Scout Activity Centre is the jewel in the crown of Essex County Scouts with 60 acres of former classic English parkland, scattered with mature oaks overlooking open countryside, only a few minutes west of the county town of Chelmsford.
The site has a variety of camping areas which can be used for Patrol Camps, Group Camps, whole district events, as well as a base for Scouting and DofE Expedition Hikes. There are two modern accommodation blocks offering sleeping accommodation for 36 and 30 people, with well equipped kitchens and dinning areas, showers and toilets. There is a large car park, a site office, shop, dedicated stand alone toilet blocks and shower blocks and a purpose built staff house.
The site provides a wide range of instructed and self lead activities including a 3 tier high ropes course, low ropes, climbing and abseiling tower, Jacobs ladder, crate staking and our unique wheelchair course. An activity barn provides indoor activity space. The site has archery, tomahawk and air rifle ranges, together with a lake offering water activities. A wooded copse provides an excellent environment for learning backwards skills. The site is scattered with camp fire bases and camp fire circle. The site also boasts a purpose built hammock village.
This busy site is managed by volunteers heavily supported by full time qualified staff and instructors.
Scouts and Guides of all ages, school and youth groups love this amazing corner of Essex just as much as we do. It is not to be missed!
